Contemporary dance encourages dancers to be versatile in their expressions and to be able to portray a wide array of movement styles and emotions. It focuses on spacial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, technique, efficiency of muscle usage, musicality and safe body alignment. Students who fit the age range by September 1, 2025 may enroll.

Before the first day of your child's class, please complete and return the 2025-2026 Schauer School of the Arts waiver via email to the Education Director at classes@schauercenter.org. If this isn't convenient, you may bring a hard copy to the box office Monday through Friday, 12:00–5:00 pm or give the waiver form to the instructor on the first day of class. Blank waiver forms will be available for parents to fill out on the first day of class if needed.
