POSITION TITLE:  Bartender
TYPE OF POSITION:  Occasional part-time, hourly, non-exempt

Position Summary: Provide all services of the bar during theater performances and rental events (weddings, showers, business meetings). This includes set up, preparing and serving beverages, taking payment, managing customers and cleanup. Provide the best customer service while working as an ambassador for the Schauer Arts Center. This position is under the direction and supervision of the Rental Event Coordinator.

Compensation/Benefits: $15.00 per hour plus customer tips during performances. $10.00 per hour plus hosted gratuity tips during rental events (weddings, showers, business meetings).

Schedule: This position requires a flexible schedule of hours, primarily evening and weekend hours. The supervisor and employee will gauge what is reasonable and necessary, as the workload will vary. The schedule will include both performances and rental events.

Minimum Requirements: Must be 18 years old with at least one year of bartending experience. You must have a valid City of Hartford bartending license or be eligible to obtain one. Must be able to work flexible hours such as weekends, nights, and occasional holidays.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge and experience in mixology, local and state alcohol laws, rules and regulations, math skills, making change, and using technology for cash and credit purchases. Ability to deal with underage guests requesting service and difficult or intoxicated guests.   This position requires excellent attendance, dependability, flexibility, integrity, honesty, and motivated and dedicated behavior.

POSITION TITLE: Office & Box Office Manager
TYPE OF POSITION: Full-Time

Position Summary: Be part of the exciting world of theater and the arts in a unique venue that hosts performances and a wide variety of classes in the arts and rental spaces. Full-time Office and Box Office Manager position (40 hours/week) are primarily Monday–Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional evening hours. This position is critical to maintaining the smooth daily operations of the center. As the first point of contact for patrons, it is an important customer service role as a representative of the Schauer Center.

Primary Responsibilities: Management of the front office and box office. Front office responsibilities include:

  • Being the first point of contact for visitors.
  • Answering general questions by phone and in person.
  • Managing office supplies and equipment.
  • Mail distribution.

Box office responsibilities are the larger portion of time, including:

  • Supervision of box office personnel.
  • Manage a specialized ticketing software system, including setting it up within the program, data entry, pulling reports, and troubleshooting.
  • Sales of tickets to special groups and back-up to the general box office.
  • Training and supervision of part-time box office staff and House Manager Staff
  • Participation as part of the full-time leadership team.
  • Assisting the entire team in annual fundraising events.

Work Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and minimum 5+ years of office and customer service experience.
  • Experience supervising other staff.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required, and experience with Microsoft Outlook is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ticketing software is a plus, or experience in mastering specialized software programs.
  • Excellent customer service skills and patience in dealing with a wide range of patrons.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the arts.
  • Flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends.
