Creative Movement: Session 1

Ages 5+

This creative movement class for ages five and older will focus on music in dance. Dancers will learn the basic elements of dance, develop coordination, and enhance their motor skills through fun exercises with a ballet emphasis. Students will be taught basic rhythm and music qualities through direct instruction, playing instruments, and dance. Creative Movement class happens once a week for 45 minutes. Creative movement is an encouraged addition to beginner and elementary ballet classes, but no prior experience is required.

Students do not have required attire for this class; however, they should arrive in clothing that is easy to move in. Ballet shoes or clean socks can be worn. If ballet attire is desired, please follow the dance dress code for Daytime Ballet:

Before the first day of your child's class, please complete and return the 2025-2026 Schauer School of the Arts waiver via email to the Education Director at classes@schauercenter.org. If this isn't convenient, you may bring a hard copy to the box office Monday through Friday, 12:00–5:00 pm or give the waiver form to the instructor on the first day of class. Blank waiver forms will be available for parents to fill out on the first day of class if needed.
