May Update

As we end another performing arts season, we are excited to announce a summer filled with outdoor live music, indoor theater shows, and new classes at the Schauer School of the Arts.

The grand finale of the 2023-24 performing arts season features Professor Pinkerton's Irrelevant Orchestra on Friday, May 3rd at 8:00 p.m. This show is different from your typical music event. It's a journey through early jazz, blues, and American roots music, all set in a relaxed cabaret atmosphere in Pikes Peak. With every act you can imagine…and some you can't, get ready for a one-of-a-kind experience!

The Hartford Community Chorus presents its Spring Concert in celebration of Ruth Knoll (1936-2023), founder of the Community Chorus and namesake of the Schauer Center theater, on Sunday, May 5 at 2:30 p.m. The HCC is fulfilling what Ruth, in her March 2008 will, desired from the Chorus as a life celebration. The concert celebrates songs that were meaningful to Ruth. Ruth also requested the chorus director to select music that befitted the occasion. This is a free, non-ticketed event.

The Schauer Courtyard returns on Thursday evenings from June through August. Enjoy live outdoor music, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and children's activities on select evenings. Whether with family and friends or looking to meet new people, the Courtyard is the perfect spot to soak up the summer vibes and make unforgettable memories. Limited outdoor seating is available, but patrons are advised to bring their lawn chairs. You can find the full schedule on our website.

The Kids From Wisconsin return on Wednesday, July 24th at 7:00 p.m. with their "Larger Than Life: The Great Entertainers" tour. The show will showcase these "larger-than-life" performing artists in their highly energized and anticipated 2024 summer production, featuring rock to pop, legendary Broadway stars, and classic entertainers who will live forever on the stage and screen. Experience the extraordinary talent of Wisconsin's most accomplished youth, aged 15 to 20, as they take the stage in a high-energy, two-hour performance featuring 22 singers/dancers and a 14-piece stage band.

Don't miss the chance for your kids to be a part of the free Realize Your Dream Workshop! This interactive session, open to kids ages 7-14, lets them work alongside the cast of the Kids from Wisconsin. They'll learn material from the show, be guided by the Kid's choreographer, select cast members, and have a Q&A session with the entire cast. It's a unique opportunity for your children to get a behind-the-scenes look at the show and learn from the best!

Registration for Schauer School of the Arts classes opens on Monday, May 20th. The school offers a wide range of classes including theater, dance, visual arts, and music for children. Adults can enroll in visual arts and dance classes, which include the new "You and Me" visual art classes, like our popular "Wine & Art" classes. Check out our website to view the brochure and get inspired!

Put some sizzle in your summer with the various entertainment options and classes available for our patrons. We'll announce the 2024-25 performing arts season soon, so stay tuned!
